We’ve got our hive evaluations back from Bee Informed Partnership (BIP) (including Nosema, Varroa, EFB, DWV assays and more) and from the USDA-ARS Beltsville Lab as well (including several viruses not included in the BIP evals).
I was invited to share our preliminary results at the NMBKA annual meeting in Albuquerque last weekend. Attendance was good, and the venue–the South Broadway Cultural Center–was great. Dr. Tom Seeley, Horace White Professor in Biology, in the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior at Cornell University, gave three highly interesting talks regarding bee behavior, and Drs. Olivia Messinger Carril and Joe Wilson, presented a delightful talk based on their book “The Bees in Your Backyard,” regarding some misunderstandings around native bees. You can watch Dr. Wilson deliver a similar talk on TEDxUSU.
I’ve attached my slide show from the meeting, and will hope to post links of video from the meeting itself when and if it is available.
Big thanks to Kathy Grassel and Jesse Brown for putting together such a stimulating meeting.
